Job summary

MercyOne Genesis is hiring an Emergency Department Registrar to provide patient-focused registration, insurance verification, and accurate demographics collection. You will be the first point of contact for patients entering the ED or hospital services.

This entry-level role requires strong computer skills and basic Medical Terminology knowledge; experience in patient access is preferred. Schedule: evenings, full-time, with weekend and holiday rotations.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with no experience required.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge and strong computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all patient registration activities including greeting patients, collecting demographics and insurance information.
• Register patients for ED services and outpatient procedures; pre-register when appropriate.
• Verify insurance benefits and collect deposits and co-payments; refer to Insurance Verification when needed.
• Provide admitting documentation to clinical staff and discuss payment arrangements with patients as needed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, CMS and JCAHO guidelines and regulations.
