Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. in California seeks a dedicated Dockworker to load and unload freight, ensuring items go on the correct trailers. Safety is paramount, and you will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual handling equipment to move goods efficiently.

You will read labels, complete freight movement forms, and use the Yard Management System to track shipments across the service center. A high school diploma and reliable, flexible shifts are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with safe lifting and freight handling.
• Knowledge of freight forms (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills).
• Ability to operate a dock yard management system.
• Able to read labels and work with various shipment documents.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manually in line with DOT guidelines.
• Apply loading techniques such as tight loading or cross loading.
• Move throughout the service center and monitor freight locations using Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and freight movement forms.
• Secure freight in trailers and ensure proper packaging and finishing.
