Job summary

Community Living, Inc. is hiring a Direct Support Professional for the Respite Care Home in Missouri. This part-time role runs 3pm–11pm with a $20/hour base pay plus a $3/hour weekend premium.

You will support individuals with IDD in daily living activities, meal prep, transportation, and community participation. Qualifications include 18+ years old, HS diploma or GED, and strong communication skills. Experience with IDD preferred; driving and MS Office skills are helpful.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months’ experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.
• Possess sound oral and written communication skills as well as decision-making skills.
• Must be able to write and document in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
• Possess the ability to use Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to work as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Becomes familiar with persons’ served program file and follows the plan to achieve goals identified by parents/program coordinator.
• Transports persons served safely.
• Prepares snacks and meals, teaching life skills in cooking and involving persons served in daily routines.
• Serves food or assists feeding for those with limited self-feeding skills.
• Maintains cleanliness of kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and other recreational spaces.
• Assists with activities of daily living (ADL/IADL) and community participation, adapting activities as needed.
• Maintains discipline and order as directed by parents and the program plan.
• Ensures safety and welfare of all persons served.
• Learns each person’s preferences and needs.
• Completes and maintains all required trainings.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required.
