Job summary

U.S. Multimodal Group in Kansas City, MO is hiring a Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain trucks and commercial vehicles. The role focuses on keeping fleets safe, compliant, and reliable through engine, transmission, brake, and system work.

Work hours are M-F with some weekend shifts; candidates should be prepared for light trailer repair, tire mounting/dismounting. CDL preferred in some roles; E-Verify employed for eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
• 2 years' experience as a truck or diesel mechanic.
• Proven experience with diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicle systems.
• Ability to operate diagnostic software and tools.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and preventive service on trucks (oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks).
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools.
• Repair or replace engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension components.
• Conduct safety inspections to meet DOT and company standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and document repairs.
• Test drive vehicles after repairs to ensure proper operation.
• Respond to roadside breakdowns and perform emergency repairs when needed.
