Job summary

Elgin Community College is seeking a full-time custodian to maintain clean and safe facilities on campus. The position runs from 5pm to 1:30am, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for weekend coverage as required by the department.

Applicants should have at least one year of custodial experience and the ability to read safety rules and manuals. ECC offers medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, and other benefits under SSECCA.

Qualifications

• One year previous custodial experience.
• Good skills in reading and comprehending safety rules and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial tasks across campus buildings (sweep, mop, restrooms, trash).
• Operate mechanical custodial equipment such as sweepers, floor scrubbers, buffers, and moving equipment.
• Clean light fixtures and lenses when necessary.
• Assist grounds department with snow removal and exterior cleanup.
• Assist facility events with custodial coverage as needed.
• Assist in special cleaning and moving projects due to renovations and new construction.
• Clean biohazard waste following proper safety precautions.
