Job summary

Liberty Public Schools is seeking an Evening Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary school facility. This full-time role runs 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm on weekdays, with a competitive pay range and benefits.

The custodian will clean classrooms, offices, gym, and restrooms, perform minor maintenance, secure facilities, and assist with events. Applicants should have at least one year of custodian experience and must pass a pre-employment background check.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in a custodian, housekeeper, or janitor position is preferred.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check (physical exam, drug test, and background clearance).

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, and/or grounds.
• Performs summer maintenance deep clean (strip/wax floors, move furniture, wash walls/windows).
• Performs minor maintenance (replace ceiling tiles, light bulbs, air filters).
• Secures facilities and grounds (locks doors/gates, sets alarms, turns off lights).
• Interacts positively with team, staff, students and guests.

The Custodian is responsible for the routine care and upkeep of an assigned facility by performing a variety of duties to maintain the facility in an attractive, safe and sanitary manner. The Custodian also assists in preparing facilities for classroom activities, and district, building and community events.

This is a 12 month position. Full time Custodians are eligible for benefits as listed below.

Hours

• Evenings, Monday through Friday

Pay

$17.24 - $22.61 per hour (based on relevant work experience)

Job Duties

• Cleans assigned classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, and/or grounds (e.g. vacuums; mops; sweeps; dusts; wipes down surfaces; empties pencil sharpeners, trash and recycling, replenishing supplies etc.)
• Performs summer maintenance deep clean (e.g. strip/wax floors, moves furniture, washes walls, windows, floorboards and furniture, etc.)
• Performs minor maintenance as needed. (e.g. replaces ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and air filters; changes vacuum bags, etc.)
• Secures facilities and grounds (e.g. locks doors and gates, sets alarms, turns off lights, etc.)
• Interacts positively with team, staff members, students and guests.

Requirements

• One or more years’ experience in a custodian, housekeeper, or janitor position is preferred.
• Able to perform snow or ice removal during times of inclement weather.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check. (physical exam, drug test, and criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance)
