Job summary

McLean County Unit District No. 5 is seeking a Custodian on the 2nd shift at NCWHS. The role ensures a learning-conducive atmosphere with high cleanliness standards and preventive maintenance on equipment.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning tasks, safety checks, and assisting with facility events. Requires stamina, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and the ability to push/pull up to 26 lbs. Overtime may be required according to district needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• General knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to carry up to 35 lbs.
• Requires employee to have the ability to push/pull up to 26 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Dust mopping the gym floor, stage, and bleachers.
• Dust mopping and wet mopping classroom floors and hallways.
• Vacuuming rugs and carpeted floors.
• Move furniture including chairs, tables, and desks.
• Changes light bulbs.
• Empty trash and carry to dumpsters.
• Service, clean and supply restrooms.
• Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• Follow chemical and equipment usage procedures to protect floors and fixtures.
• Monitor building security and safety; lock doors after hours.
• Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times.
• Regulate HVAC for seasonal comfort and efficient usage.
• Help remove snow where appropriate.
• Check exit doors and panic bolts daily.
• Dust and polish classrooms; move furniture as needed.
• Clean cafeteria areas and kitchen floors when assigned.
• Set up facilities for events; decorate and rearrange as directed.
