Job summary

SBM is seeking a Custodian in Burnsville, MN to maintain cleanliness and sanitation across assigned areas. The role involves executing daily janitorial tasks, operating cleaning equipment, and following safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.

The candidate will perform hazardous waste responsibilities, follow schedules, and collaborate with team members while maintaining professional communication with supervisors and customers.

Qualifications

• No specific education requirement; 3–6 months training or experience preferred.
• Certification in safety or forklift operation may be required.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties
• Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
• Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Stop at risk behavior of others and self
• Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
• Perform repetitive tasks
• Maintain clean work area
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
• Take direction and respond to supervision
• Talk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
• Fill in during staff shortage
• Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
• Use proper personal protective equipment
• Present a professional appearance and conduct
• Understand customer service and satisfaction
• Understand reporting systems, and of the environment
