Job summary

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg seeks a Custodian to maintain cleanliness and sanitation across campus facilities, reporting to the Assistant Manager of 2nd & 3rd Shift Custodial Services. You will clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, restrooms, classrooms, corridors and stairwells, perform floor and window maintenance, operate cleaning equipment, manage trash and recycling, and replenish supplies.

Qualifications

• Must be able to walk and stand extensively; climb stairs; lift up to 35 lbs.
• Must be able to operate cleaning equipment, both electric and manual.
• Must be willing and able to learn the use of heavy floor care equipment.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect common high touch surfaces, restrooms, hallways, corridors, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, and general interior spaces.
• Perform floor and window maintenance, operating powered cleaning equipment.
• Trash removal, collecting recycling, and replenishing supplies.
• Report equipment and building repairs and any unsafe or unusual building maintenance issues.
• Care and handling of facilities supplies, equipment, and assigned keys.
