Job summary

Care New England Health System seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Acute Care of the Elderly unit at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. This part-time position operates evenings (3:00pm-11:00pm EO/W). You will support the RN with direct patient care and help coordinate non-nursing services on the unit.

Responsibilities include transcribing orders, maintaining patient records, and ensuring clean, safe, and well-organized nursing areas. A CNA certification and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical training and more than six months job-related experience or equivalent are required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, basic computer skills and medical terminology are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide general patient care and assist with personal hygiene as directed by the RN.
• Transcribe physician orders and document clinical data and vital signs.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate changes in patient condition to the RN/Team Leader.
• Coordinate non-nursing services and support unit operations to ensure patient comfort.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and a clean, safe nursing station area.
• Screen visitors and handle routine inquiries related to departmental procedures.
• Prepare patient charts and transfer records upon discharge or expiration as required.
• Access lab results and assist with bedside care and specimen collection as needed.
• File documents following standard procedures and support Bed Management as needed.
• Assist RN/LPN with care of seriously ill patients or during complex procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of specialty by attending seminars and staying current with journals.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
