Job summary

California State University, Bakersfield is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning and sanitation duties across campus facilities. The role supports events setup and cleanup, responds quickly to custodial emergencies, and ensures safe, clean environments for faculty and staff.

The position requires a valid CA driver’s license, one year of custodial experience, and the ability to work Sunday through Thursday evenings.

Qualifications

• One year of recent experience in industrial custodial maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain by date of hire.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned areas across campus with disinfecting and sanitation practices.
• Maintain campus floors and surfaces, including dusting, mopping, and waxing as required.
• Support events setup and cleanup; move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Report facility repair needs and participate in safety and compliance procedures.
