Job summary

The YMCA of the USA is seeking an Evening Program Director for our summer camp program. You will plan and lead evening sessions, mentor staff, ensure safety and well-being of campers, and build a positive, fun environment aligned with YMCA values.

Responsibilities include coordinating staff, scheduling activities, communicating plans, and reporting incidents. Requirements include 2 years’ camp experience, leadership background, CPR/First Aid certification, and ability to manage large groups. 18+.

Qualifications

• 2 years of prior experience with children, preferably in a camp setting.
• Leadership experience in a related role.
• CPR/First Aid certifications.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to manage large groups and maintain time management.
• Commitment to YMCA mission and values.
• Willingness to adhere to all policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned sessions during staff training.
• Support staff and inspire leadership among campers.
• Ensure safety, health, welfare and happiness of staff and campers.
• Attend all staff meetings and coordinate with Activities Director.
• Oversee equipment care, scheduling and activity plans.
• Plan and supervise safe and fun evening programs.
• Document daily safety observations and maintain clean facilities.
• Coordinate special events, campfires and evening programs.
• Assist with check-in/out and other camp activities as needed.
• Report incidents or discipline concerns to the supervisor.
