Job summary

Orleans Technical College in Northeast Philadelphia is seeking an Evening Building Maintenance Instructor to teach hands-on projects and theory in safety, math and the basics of building maintenance under the Academic Affairs Director.

The role is part-time with hours Mon-Thu 5:30 PM to 10:15 PM. Base pay is $32.50/hour, and the position includes the potential for benefits as described in the college's total compensation package.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years related work experience required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, as specified in the curriculum, in the basics of building maintenance.
• Ensure that safety, classroom and school rules are followed consistently and take appropriate measures when they are not.
• Communicate regularly with Student & Career Services teams regarding student performance as it relates to job openings and potential employers.
• Implement changes to curricula and lesson plans to incorporate approved/relevant online and digital content, new textbooks, new testing software, new instructor resources, new equipment.
• Continually develop and refine classroom management and effective presentation skills.
• Evaluate growth opportunities for Orleans Technical College by providing input to customized training opportunities; short-term training opportunities.
• Suggest and participate in professional development (in person and online) opportunities to remain current in field of training as well as in effective instruction methods.
• Provide evaluation of students on hands-on activities.
• Provide testing of students’ knowledge of theory.
