Job summary

Hampton Behavioral Health Center seeks an Admission Intake Coordinator / Admission Nurse to assist with patient intakes in our admissions department. The role supports evaluation and admission processes for psychiatric treatment in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a Monday–Friday, 1:00pm–9:00pm schedule.

• Provide comprehensive level of care assessment with treatment recommendations.
• Handle inquiry calls from referrals, patients, and families seeking options.
• Coordinate insurance authorizations for recommended treatment.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Collaborate with department Director and Supervisor to ensure regulatory compliance.
• For nurses: provide comprehensive medical evaluations for referrals and obtain admission orders.

Full time - Monday – Friday // 1:00pm – 9:00pm

Responsibilities

• Coordinating with referral agencies in facilitating step down/direct transfer admissions to both our inpatient and/or outpatient continuum of care.
• Facilitating all aspects of the assessment and admission process for patients seeking evaluation for psychiatric (with possible co-occurring substance abuse) treatment.
• Provide a comprehensive level of care assessment for providing a recommendation for treatment within our continuum of care.
• Provide efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls from referral sources, patients, and family members seeking treatment options.
• Coordinating with insurance companies for authorizations of recommended treatment
• Responsible for accurate and timely documentation.
• Works collaboratively with the department Director and Supervisor to ensure compliance with state and facility requirements.
• For Nurses: provide comprehensive medical evaluations for referrals, conduct nurse to nurse reports when indicated, obtain orders for admit
• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality

Knowledge And Skills

• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Significant computer skills, data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet maintenance.
• Ability to multitask and strong organizational skills.
• Experience with Cerner a plus.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Nurse (RN)
• Master’s degree in counseling/psychology/related field – with or without license/certification
• Bachelors’ degree in psychology/sociology/related field with a current New Jersey state license/certification or state crisis intervention screening license
• Bachelors’ degree in psychology/sociology/related field without licensing will be considered
• Minimum of one-year experience in psychiatric required
• Previous experience in crisis intervention preferred
