Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate various machine tools, shears, forms, and equipment to manufacture or fabricate separable instrumentation, test equipment, models, mockups, production parts, and their modifications.
  • Perform layout work based on blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions for machining jobs.
  • Construct manufacturing aids as needed to facilitate machining operations.
  • Assemble machined or subassembled component parts, involving transitional machining operations.
  • Perform complex sheet metal fabrications, models, mock-ups, forms, and templates with close tolerances from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  • Work with metals, plastics, composites, and wood using all types of woodworking and metalworking equipment.
  • Conduct related bench and handwork operations to complete tasks.
  • Maintain records and perform related duties as required.
Minimum Experience:
  • At least 2 years of experience operating all types of machine tools and fabrication equipment, including setup.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Must pass written assessments and demonstrate competency in machine tool setup and operation.
Displacement To:
  • Bench Repair Parts E5020, M19
  • Effective 09/01/08, incorporated Diversified Fabricator into Machinist Classification & changed rate to M24
