Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking an Evaporator Operator to process trap and wastewater products and reclaim quality material in our rendering facility.

The role requires coordinating with the cooker operator and foreman to produce high-quality product via the evaporator. Responsibilities include starting-up by verifying grease content, taking hourly readings, adjusting as needed, and following shutdown procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in rendering facility or production environment preferred.
• Ability to perform general mechanics and troubleshoot equipment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with cooker operator and foreman to produce quality product.
• Monitor equipment at start by checking raw material tanks for grease percentage and priming with grease.
• Log hourly readings and adjust equipment as necessary.
• Shut down equipment in correct sequence following procedures.
• Ensure work area and equipment are clean after each shift.
• Maintain safety as a top priority per company rules.

Job Summary

The Evaporator Operator is responsible for processing trap and wastewater product in an effort to reclaim quality product.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for communicating with the cooker operator and foreman to produce quality product through the evaporator.
• Monitor equipment at start by checking raw material tanks to know percentage of grease to water; make sure system is primed with good grease.
• Logs hourly readings; makes adjustments as necessary to equipment.
• Responsible for shut down of equipment in correct sequence by following proper procedures
• Assures equipment and work area is clean after each shift.
• Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment preferred.
• Good mechanical aptitude & equipment troubleshooting; skilled in general mechanics and safe operation of equipment.
• Good communication skills both oral and written.
• Highly organized.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
  

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Frequently must push, pull, move or lift up to 100 lbs.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in a rendering facility which requires tolerance for wet and/or slippery floors, and high heat and/or cold temperatures.
