Base pay range

$24.57/hr - $28.17/hr

Job Title: Whey Evaporator/Drier Operator

Immediate Supervisor: Department Supervisor

Shift: 6pm - 6am, rotational working every other weekend

Summary: The Process Operator performs all functions related to operations in the

whey plant.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow, all Prairie Farms policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Start-up, operation, and shut-down of all separating, evaporating, concentrating and drying equipment to produce in spec product.
  • Operates C.I.P. units and monitors chemical concentrations to ensure that all cleaning and sanitation is effective and safe.
  • Performs in-process testing to ensure product is within specifications.
  • Supports Warehouse duties regarding truck loading after normal warehouse hours.
  • Inspect all equipment to assure proper operation and safety.
  • Follow operational procedures and complete required paperwork.
  • Follow GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices), quality control, cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Ensure accurate counts on production are recorded.
  • Accountable for proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in any other areas of the manufacturing plant when necessary.
  • All other task’s as assigned

Qualification/Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent skills by experience.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and understand written and oral directions.
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Must demonstrate basic math skills to calculate production yields, and understand weights and measures.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate, understand, and write in the English

language.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms on a repetitive basis. The employee must be able to push, pull, and move up to 100 pounds. The employee must be able to physically lift up to 50 pounds. All jobs require visual acuity to review written documentations; ability to hear and understand speech. At times there can be loud noise which may cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. There is exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to heat/cold temperature changes.
