Job summary

KBR is seeking an EVA & Environmental Physiology Lab Research Assistant (Engineer) for NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. You will help advance human health, physiology, and performance for EVA and spaceflight, working with multidisciplinary teams and supporting hardware and software research.

The role emphasizes coordination, data acquisition, and adherence to safety and research standards, with on-site work at JSC in Houston.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, physiology, or related science with ~5 years of experience or equivalent graduate education.
• Experience conducting human health and performance research including physiological monitoring.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate human research studies and engineering evaluations with study teams and stakeholders.
• Support development of vehicle and space suit exploration atmospheres to mitigate decompression sickness.
• Support CO₂ exposure evaluation and EVA/spacewalk physiological characterization.
• Implement research activities defined in strategic roadmaps.
• Prepare study documentation such as IRB protocols, test plans, TRR packages, progress reports.
• Design and maintain data acquisition systems and monitor physiological data.
