Job summary

General Motors in the United States is seeking an EV high voltage technician focused on the safe disassembly, testing and handling of Reserve Energy Storage Systems (RESS) within a teardown cell environment.

You will travel to dealer locations up to 25% of the time, perform physical duties with large batteries, document findings, and collaborate with engineering to drive safety and process improvements in an all-electric mobility program.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in mechanical or electrical field.
• 2 years related work experience.
• Detailed knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts.
• Ability to perform physical duties involving lifting/battery modules and crates.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to travel by air and drive with ~25% travel.
• Competence with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Champion safe disassembly of high voltage EV battery assemblies and related components; capture failure causes.
• Assist with logistics, crating/uncrating and preliminary tests on high voltage battery assemblies.
• Perform physical duties with large high voltage batteries including rigging, movement, shipping, and disposal.
• Travel to dealer locations to root cause and disassemble unsafe battery packs on site (approx. 25% travel).
• Maintain records on work performed and data collected.
• Suggest improvements aligned with safety and efficiency.
