The Electric Vehicle Product Support position serves as an advanced technical field resource for ABC-supported battery electric vehicles (BEVs), providing diagnostics, field service, technical training, and product support to customers throughout North America. This role specializes in complex EV systems, including high-voltage battery systems, battery management systems (BMS), charging interfaces, thermal management, electric drivetrains, HVAC, and CAN/J1939 communications. Working directly with customers, dealers, coach builders, suppliers, charging providers, and internal teams, this position investigates technical concerns, performs field repairs, analyzes vehicle and battery data, supports warranty and root cause investigations, and develops corrective actions that improve vehicle reliability and performance. This is a highly mobile, hands‑on position requiring extensive travel throughout North America, with occasional international travel, to support vehicle uptime, battery performance, product reliability, and customer satisfaction.
- Quickly diagnosing and resolving complex EV and high-voltage system concerns to maximize vehicle uptime and minimize repeat failures.
- Using vehicle logs, CAN data, battery health information, fault histories, charging data, and telematics to move beyond symptoms and identify root causes.
- Becoming a trusted technical resource for customers and internal teams on battery systems, charging, high-voltage architecture, thermal management, and EV diagnostics.
- Translating complex technical findings into clear recommendations and corrective actions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Delivering effective hands‑on training that strengthens technician knowledge, high-voltage safety practices, and customer confidence with ABC-supported EV products.
- Identifying recurring field trends and providing technical insight that contributes to improved vehicle reliability, battery performance, charging performance, and product development.
- Representing ABC Companies professionally and independently in customer-facing field environments throughout North America.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and mobile repair support for ABC-supported battery electric vehicles.
- Diagnose high-voltage battery systems, BMS, inverters, traction motors, DC-DC converters, charging systems, thermal management systems, HVAC, and CAN/multiplex networks.
- Perform on-site EV repairs, service campaigns, commissioning support, field investigations, and corrective actions at customer locations.
- Serve as a technical escalation resource for complex EV concerns and difficult-to-diagnose vehicle issues.
- Develop appropriate repair strategies based on diagnostic findings, technical documentation, vehicle data, and manufacturer or supplier requirements.
- Verify completed repairs and system performance to support safe, reliable vehicle operation.
- Provide responsive field support while maintaining strong customer communication and minimizing vehicle downtime.
- Analyze vehicle logs, CAN data, fault histories, battery health information, charge history, cell balance data, and telematics to identify technical concerns and performance trends.
- Evaluate battery system performance, including state of charge (SOC), state of health (SOH), cell balancing, thermal performance, and other available battery indicators.
- Investigate charging-related concerns involving vehicle interfaces, charging equipment, communication, and system performance.
- Use diagnostic, commissioning, data-logging, and CAN analysis software to investigate complex system concerns.
- Document findings and provide clear technical recommendations to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver technical and operational training for technicians, operators, customers, and internal teams.
- Provide hands‑on instruction covering high-voltage safety, EV diagnostics, battery care, charging practices, thermal management, and proper operation of ABC-supported electric vehicles.
- Deliver training on EV platforms, battery systems, charging interfaces, multiplex/CAN systems, HVAC, thermal management, and other supported EV technologies.
- Conduct scheduled customer visits to provide fleet health reviews, technical support, maintenance guidance, product education, and training.
- Build strong working relationships with customers while communicating complex technical information clearly and professionally.
- Support root cause analysis, warranty investigations, product improvement initiatives, and corrective action development.
- Partner with customers, dealers, coach builders, battery suppliers, charging providers, vendors, and internal technical teams to resolve field concerns.
- Identify recurring product or performance trends and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations that improve EV reliability, battery life, charging performance, serviceability, and customer satisfaction.
- Stay current with EV technology, diagnostic tools, software releases, high-voltage safety requirements, supplier updates, and product changes affecting ABC-supported platforms.
- Maintain accurate and timely service documentation, field investigation findings, training records, technical reports, and customer communications.
- Manage multiple technical cases, field investigations, and customer priorities simultaneously.
- Travel extensively throughout North America, with occasional international travel, to support customers and ABC-supported EV products.
- Submit required expense reports and other administrative documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain required tools, high-voltage PPE, and other equipment necessary to perform field responsibilities safely.
- Comply with all ABC Companies policies, safety procedures, high-voltage protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Technology, Automotive Technology, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience within the transportation, commercial vehicle, electric vehicle, battery, or high-voltage automotive industry.
- Hands-on battery electric vehicle diagnostic and repair experience strongly preferred.
- Formal high-voltage safety training and experience working with high-voltage AC/DC systems required.
- Experience diagnosing battery systems, charging systems, electric drivetrains, and thermal management systems.
- Strong understanding of EV architecture, including battery packs, BMS, contactors, isolation monitoring, DC-DC converters, inverters, traction motors, regenerative braking, and charging systems.
- Working knowledge of lithium-ion battery operation, including SOC, SOH, cell balancing/equalization, thermal management, degradation factors, and safe battery handling practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, CAN architecture, battery data, service information, and technical documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot CAN/J1939 vehicle networks, multiplex systems, and EV control communications.
- Experience using diagnostic, commissioning, data-logging, CAN analysis, and other technical software.
- Experience performing root cause analysis using fault codes, CAN traces, vehicle logs, telematics, charging history, and battery performance data.
- Experience delivering technical training and customer support related to EV diagnostics, high-voltage safety, battery care, or field service preferred.
- CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement preferred.
- Ability to independently manage multiple technical cases, field investigations, and competing priorities.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, up to 100%, including overnight and occasional international travel.
