Instructor – European Portuguese Language Instructor
Leidos is seeking a highly skilled and motivated European Portuguese Language Instructor to support a critical national security mission. This role involves delivering classroom instruction, conducting proficiency assessments, and developing instructional materials in a dynamic, mission‑driven environment. Leidos will sponsor and upgrade security clearances for eligible candidates.

Responsibilities
- Deliver 3‑5 hours of daily instruction in courses ranging from ILR levels 0‑3.
- Become a certified language tester and conduct 3‑4 proficiency assessments weekly.
- Instruct students in speaking a foreign language and understanding the culture associated with the language.
- Develop class materials and training aids to meet customized student needs.
- Work under the direction of experienced senior trained instructors.
- Remain current on events in the countries where the language is spoken.
- Receive sponsor training focusing on foreign‑language teaching and testing to become certified per sponsor standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, foreign language, or linguistics with 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2–10 years of relevant experience (experience may substitute for a degree).
- Minimum 2 years of direct teaching experience.
- Degree must be obtained in the U.S. or a country where the target language is natively spoken.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic internet research.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and European Portuguese.
Language Proficiency Requirements
- Pass a LEIDOS or approved commercial testing vendor–administered translation test (3 hours) with a score of 4 or higher.
- Achieve a minimum of 5/5/5 in speaking, listening, and reading on the standard ILR scale.
Security Clearance Requirement
- TS/SCI with polygraph; sponsor willing to support TS/SCI with polygraph.
- Able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (must be fully adjudicated before work begins); Leidos will sponsor candidates after passing all required language tests.
- Clearance must be fully adjudicated before starting. Linguists can only begin work on contract with a fully adjudicated clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the U.S. Intelligence Community, military, or law enforcement.
- Fluency in multiple languages is highly desirable.
- Prior exposure to cryptologic or national security environments is a plus.
- Proficiency in multiple languages is strongly desired.
Pay Range
$92,300.00 – $166,850.00 (general guideline; actual compensation considered on a case‑by‑case basis).
