Job summary

The University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, nine-month tenure-accruing Assistant Professor position in European History, starting August 16, 2027. We seek scholars across medieval to modern periods and welcome diverse methodological approaches.

Preference will be given to research situating Europe within interregional and global contexts, complementing strengths in Atlantic and imperial histories. The appointee will contribute to interdisciplinary work and graduate mentoring.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in History or a closely related field by August 15, 2027.
• Demonstrated potential of excellence in scholarly research and publication in European History.
• Evidence of ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Ability to contribute to graduate education through mentoring, advising and service activities.

Responsibilities

• Teach and advise undergraduate and graduate students in European History.
• Engage in scholarly research and publish in reputable journals.
• Contribute to graduate education through mentoring, advising and service activities.
• Collaborate across disciplines to advance the History Department’s research goals.
