The only academic art museum in Oregon accredited by the AmericanAlliance of Museums, the University of Oregon's Jordan SchnitzerMuseum of Art (JSMA) features engaging exhibitions, significantcollections of historic and contemporary art, and excitingeducational programs that support the University's academic missionand the diverse interests of its off-campus communities. The JSMA'scollections galleries present selections from its extensiveholdings of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and American art. Specialexhibitions galleries display works from the collection and onloan, representing many cultures of the world, past and present.The JSMA continues a long tradition of bridging internationalcultures and offers a welcoming destination for discovery andeducation centered on artistic expression that deepens theappreciation and understanding of the human condition.
The Museum Fellow will assist in all aspects of the curatorial andcollections work of the museum's programs for American and EuropeanArt, and global contemporary art. Work activities will includemanaging schedules and providing regular reports; assisting inexhibition preparations and curatorial work; assisting with thepublications program; helping schedule and attend exhibitionmeetings; taking minutes, assisting with exhibition design,production, installation, and other tasks, as assigned. Fellowswill also conduct research on the museum's collection; write fordidactic labels and catalogs and the museum's website, and for PRand marketing materials. Additionally, Fellows will research worksfor acquisition and loan; prepare loan forms; and prepare materialsfor the museum's Collections Committee.
