Key Responsibilities

Instruction and Academic Support

The Instructor performs the following instructional tasks to improve Service Members’ academic competencies in support of job proficiency, advanced military schooling, and career progression.

• Deliver classroom instruction in mathematics, reading, English grammar, and basic computer skills.
• Provide instruction in support of the BSEP.
• Utilize government-approved instructional methods and tools, including DANTES resources, in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 621-5.
• Adapt instructional delivery methods to meet diverse learning needs and support improvement in Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT) performance, including General Technical (GT) score enhancement.
• Assess student academic readiness and identify instructional needs using approved tools and program guidance.
• Support the administration of required assessments associated with instructional programs.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches to improve learning outcomes.

Army Learning Center (ALC) Academic Support Services

These services shall be provided in 30-minute increments and are limited to students currently enrolled in the active class, with no more than three students per session. Upon determining that one or more students require additional instructional support, the Instructor shall submit a request for ALC services to the local TLV supervisor. The request must include the Service Members’ names, contact information, areas requiring review, and the proposed date, time, and location of the ALC session. The TLV Supervisor shall review all ALC service requests and approve or disapprove them accordingly. Upon approval, the TLV Supervisor will notify the ESO or designated Government representative of the scheduled sessions. ALC services shall not be conducted until formal approval has been granted by the TLV Supervisor.

Tutoring and Individualized Academic Support

ALC personnel perform the following tutoring and academic support tasks to deliver individualized instruction based on Service Members’ needs identified during an active BSEP course.

• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in support of academic skill development, including mathematics, reading, and English.
• Deliver instruction based on individualized learning needs using government-provided curriculum and approved instructional resources.
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) using government-provided programs of instruction.
• Utilize government-approved diagnostic tools to assess academic levels and create customized tutoring plans.
• Ensure completion of pre- and post- government approved tests assessments for BSEP participants.
• Measure and evaluate student progress to determine effectiveness of tutoring interventions.

Records Management and Reporting

The Instructor performs the following records management and reporting tasks to maintain accurate documentation and support program oversight.

• Maintain and update student records, enrollment data, and course documentation in ArmyIgnitED and other required systems.
• Prepare and submit educational status reports and required documentation in accordance with SOPs and government directives.
• Provide required reports and documentation to the Education Services Officer (ESO) or Education Services Specialist (ESS), as directed.
  

Administrative Support

The Instructor performs the following administrative tasks to support daily operations within the education center.

• Perform general clerical and administrative duties, including reception support, data entry, and customer assistance.
• Maintain organized instructional materials, records, and classroom resources.
• Support daily operations to ensure efficient delivery of education services.
  

Compliance and Security

The Instructor performs the following compliance and security tasks to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and protection of sensitive information.

• Safeguard sensitive information, including Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and FERPA-protected student records.
• Adhere to all applicable Army regulations, policies, SOPs, and government directives, including AR 621-5.
• Ensure all instructional and administrative activities are conducted in accordance with approved procedures.
• Immediately report any non-compliance or discrepancies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a college or university that is accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U. S. Department of Education. At least 5 years of teaching experience and or a teaching certificate from a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Capable of obtaining a favorable National Agency Check with Investigations (NACI). Broad understanding and training in handling sensitive material. Strong comprehension and ability to navigate military web-based systems/programs and Microsoft Office programs.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) status in Germany. Under NATO SOFA provisions, individuals considered "ordinarily resident" in Germany may not be eligible for SOFA sponsorship. "Ordinarily resident" generally refers to individuals who reside in Germany as their normal place of residence and have established personal, social, or economic ties independent of U.S. military, civilian, or contractor orders. Examples include individuals with German residency permits, permanent local residency, or employment on the local economy not connected to U.S. Government assignment.
