Job summary

MES, LLC is seeking an instructional assistant to support High School Completion, Basic Skills Education, and GED prep programs for Army-related sites in Hawaii. You will work with instructors to deliver varied instructional methods, manage records, and support student learning through individualized plans.

The role requires DL experience, strong English and Math background, and a valid NACI check. This civilian position offers full-time hours with a focus on educational outcomes and student

Qualifications

  • Shall read, write, speak, enunciate clearly, and fully comprehend English.
  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred; strong Math/English background.
  • End-user instructional experience in Distance Learning (DL) and ability to assist with DL curriculum and equipment.
  • Minimum of two years of instructional experience, incl. remediation of Math/Reading/English/Science/Language Arts.
  • National Agency Check with Investigation (NACI) required.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Government-provided instruction programs per Army policy and SOP.
  • Follow detailed procedures and maintain required documentation.
  • Work with instructors to provide appropriate academic support for HSCP, BSEP, and GED prep.
  • Maintain student records and develop IEPs to plan instruction on individual needs.
  • Measure student outcomes and document progress as required.
  • Use TABE and other diagnostics to tailor instruction plans for each student.
  • Operate Army Ignited or government programs to announce classes, enroll students, and post scores.
  • Assist in coordinating special events and maintain clean, professional workspaces.
  • Prepare for security checks; NACI clearance is required.

The primary location of this job posting is at Schofield Barracks, however the candidate may have to report to Tripler for training, some Fridays, or to meet the needs of the government and/or our mission.

Duties
  • Utilize a Government-provided Program of Instruction in accordance with Army policy and program guidance.
  • Follow clearly detailed and specific procedures IAW site Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or similar written directive.
  • Work directly with Instructor using various methods of instruction (e.g., face‑to‑face, classroom, DL, computer‑assisted, assessment, evaluation, and intervention) to provide appropriate support and adequate academic instruction for the High School Completion Program (HSCP), the Basic Skills Education Program(BSEP), preparation for the official General Education Development (GED) exam, secondary programs, special emphasis language programs, and military professional development training. All methods must be IAW SOP, AR 621‑5, and/or current directives.
  • Assist in providing Functional Academic Skills Training (FAST), test preparation, prerequisite study for service schools and college classes, and military professional development training.
  • Maintain student records and course documentation, providing this information to the ESO/ESS as required.
  • Assist Instructor in developing student Individualized Education Plans (IEP) to plan and deliver instruction based on individual needs.
  • Assist Instructor to measure student outcomes, maintain student records, and course documentation IAW SOPs and written directives provided by the Government, providing this information to the ESO/ESS as required.
  • Use the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) or other diagnostic tools to assist in developing customized plan of instruction for each student.
  • Use Army Ignited, or other government directed program/application to announce classes, enroll students, document attendance, post test scores, and monitor progress.
  • Support special events as requested by ESO (i.e. college fairs, graduation, etc.).
  • Maintain work area, office, and classroom environment in a clean, neat, professional, and orderly manner.
  • Ensure computers and peripherals are clean and operational.
  • A National Agency Check with Investigation (NACI) is required for this position.
Qualifications
  • Shall be able to read, write, speak, enunciate clearly, and fully comprehend the English language.
  • The minimum education and experience required to perform these services/tasks include an Associates degree - Bachelors degree preferred. Required to have a strong background in Math and English. May be administered a short exam to determine qualifications.
  • End-user instructional experience in Distance Learning (DL) or formal training in DL for the sites involved in DL and the ability to assist students with DL curriculum and with DL technical equipment is required along with a demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft-Office computer programs.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience consisting of at least one (1) year experience in individualized or classroom instruction, including prescriptive remediation of skills in the areas of Math, Reading, English Grammar, Science, Writing, Language Arts, or oral and written communication.
  • A National Agency Check with Investigation (NACI) is required for this position.
