Job summary

The European Union Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks an Associate Director to teach courses, advise students, oversee the MAEUS program, manage budgets, supervise staff, and provide strategic guidance for core EUC initiatives.

The role emphasizes grant development, cross-campus collaboration, and expanding outreach with K-12, policymakers, and international partners, with hybrid work options after an initial on-site period.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in international studies or related field.
• Demonstrated international experience such as studying, teaching or conducting research abroad and/or in Europe.
• Minimum of one year of experience in administration, fiscal and/or grant management, personnel oversight, and academic program management.
• PhD in international studies or European studies preferred.
• Experience teaching at the university level and grant writing/management.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to two core courses that support the MAEUS program and EUC mission.
• Develop and teach advanced seminars related to MAEUS and EU studies.
• Lead seminars/workshops to support scholarly research on the EU and transatlantic relations.
• Identify external funding opportunities and write grant proposals with the Director.
• Oversee grant execution and ensure compliance with guidelines and deadlines.
• Coordinate academic advising for MAEUS students and oversee graduate programs.
• Provide administrative leadership and supervise Center staff.
• Develop off-campus instruction/outreach and build institutional partnerships.
