Overview

ETL Data Migration Consultant (ERP Implementation – Infor Syteline / CSI)

Engagement details: Hybrid (onsite in Pennsylvania one week per month). Reports To ERP Program Manager (dotted line to VP, IT).

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an independent consultant to lead ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) activities for a new ERP implementation (Infor Syteline / CloudSuite Industrial). You will design, build, test, and run data migration pipelines from legacy sources to Syteline, ensuring data quality, traceability, and a smooth cutover. The ideal consultant brings hands-on ETL engineering skills (C#, Java, SQL, .NET), strong understanding of ERP data models and business processes, and a track record delivering production-grade conversions under tight timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess legacy data landscape; define migration scope, objects, volumes, and dependencies.
• Create source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, data standards, and business validation rules.
• Architect scalable ETL pipelines, staging layers, and reconciliation controls (audit trails, row counts, checksums).

Build & Configure

• Develop ETL jobs and integration services using SQL/.NET/C#/Java and—where applicable—SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend, or similar.
• Implement robust error handling, restartability, and logging/monitoring for all migration jobs.
• Configure secure connections to databases, flat files, APIs (REST/SOAP), EDI, and internal systems.

Data Quality & Governance

• Profile data and remediate quality issues (dedupe, standardization, reference/master data alignment).
• Set up validation reports, exception queues, and sign-off workflows with business data owners.
• Enforce data security, PII handling, and least-privilege access across all environments.

Test & Iterate

• Lead migration test cycles: unit tests, system/regression tests, and multiple mock conversions.
• Produce cutover rehearsal playbooks with timings, checkpoints, rollback criteria, and communication plans.
• Tune performance (indexes, parallelization, batching, CDC strategies) to meet load windows.
• Execute final cutover loads; track run-time KPIs and reconcile record-level counts and financial totals.
• Provide hypercare support: triage load issues, perform post-go-live backfills, and optimize recurring interfaces.
• Partner closely with functional leads, business analysts, and the Syteline technical team to align on objects such as Items, BOMs/Routings, Customers, Vendors, AR/AP, GL, open orders, and inventory.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• ETL Engineering: 5+ years hands-on ETL development for ERP data migrations or complex system integrations.
• Programming: Proficient in C#, Java, SQL, and .NET for building ETL/integration solutions.
• Data Stores: Strong SQL design/optimization; experience with SQL Server (preferred), plus exposure to Oracle/MySQL.
• Integration Tech: Comfort with REST/SOAP, XML/JSON, flat files, EDI, and file-based exchange patterns.
• ERP Experience: Prior work migrating to or integrating with Infor Syteline / CloudSuite Industrial (or similar tier-2/enterprise ERPs).
• Quality & Controls: Proven approach to reconciliation, auditability, error handling, and production runbooks.
• Soft Skills: Clear communicator, highly organized, able to drive cross-functional decisions and obtain business sign-off.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on with Syteline data structures, IDOs, and integration frameworks.
• Experience with SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory; familiarity with Azure or AWS services.
• Exposure to MDM/reference data, CDC strategies, and incremental load design.
• Agile delivery experience and comfort working in hybrid on/off-site teams.
• Prior migrations touching Power BI datasets, EDI flows, or internal custom apps.
• Data migration strategy, object inventory, and detailed source-to-target mappings.
• Built and documented ETL pipelines (dev/test/prod), including staging schemas and job schedules.
• Data quality rules, validation reports, and signed business reconciliation packs for each mock and cutover.
• Cutover runbook with timings, responsibilities, rollback plan, and communications.
• Post-go-live stabilization plan and knowledge transfer.

Work Arrangement & Logistics

• Hybrid model with one week per month onsite in Pennsylvania (travel reimbursed per company policy).
• Contractor provides own equipment; secure VPN access provided.
• Background check and standard security training required prior to environment access.
