El Centro de la Raza is seeking an Ethnic Studies Instructor for a temporary summer program. The role involves designing and teaching a curriculum focused on identity and community advocacy to middle school students. Ideal candidates are passionate about youth development and have experience working with BIPOC youth. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with students and foster their cultural heritage.

JOB SUMMARY:
Temporary Summer Position, Employment from June 16- August 15, 2025
The ‘Echale Ganas Summer Institute’ brings together 40 rising Latina/o middle school youth to build community, establish summer friendships, and enter the next school year at or above grade level. Our program is designed to foster an atmosphere of collective learning, celebration and fun! Scholars in our program receive academic support in Language Arts, Math/Science and Ethnic Studies. Youth also venture on weekly field trips focus on exploring their Pacific Northwest backyard.
As the Ethnic Studies Instructor, you will teach 2 cohorts of middle school students in their exploration of identity, history and community advocacy. Through resources provided by El Centro De La Raza, you will design a 7-week project based curriculum incorporating opportunity for scholars to affirm their own cultural heritage. This portion of our summer program is a cornerstone in the development of scholar’s critical consciousness. Thus, we seek an individual passionate about youth development and who can align to the mission of El Centro De La Raza.
