Job summary

The Office of the Attorney General, Georgia Department of Law, seeks an Assistant Attorney General specializing in Ethics and Elections to counsel state agencies and boards. This role provides legal advice and representation to the Secretary of State, the Ethics Commission, the State Election Board, and related entities.

You will handle litigation at state and federal courts, perform legal research, draft pleadings and discovery, attend trainings, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school and a member of the Georgia Bar in good standing.
• Preference given to applicants with general litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Handles cases at every stage of litigation in state and federal courts.
• Conducts legal research and keeps abreast of recent legal developments.
• Prepares pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Prepares discovery requests and responses, including e-discovery.
• Takes and defends depositions.
• Provides general legal advice and/or representation to clients/agencies.
