Overview

Provides pastoral care and/or counseling to patients, family members, Associates, Medical Staff and visitors associated with Methodist Healthcare – Memphis Hospitals. Provides spiritual care by seeking to understand the relationship between faith, illness, and the feelings and thoughts that motivate healthy and meaningful use of each person's beliefs and attitudes. What you will do

• Provides pastoral care and/or counseling to patients, family members and visitors.
• Provides pastoral care and/or counseling to Associates and Medical Staff.
• Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.
• Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

Education/Formal Training Requirements

• Required - Master\'s Degree Divinity
• Required - Master\'s Degree Theology

Work Experience Requirements

• Required - Hospital Chaplain 1-3 years

Licenses and Certifications Requirements

• Preferred - Board Certified Jewish Chaplain - National Association of Jewish Chaplains
• Preferred - Board Certified Catholic Chaplain - National Association of Catholic Chaplains
• Preferred - Board Certified Chaplain - IC - Board of Chaplaincy Certification Incorporated Commission

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Functional knowledge of the religious principles of major faiths.
• Ability to work effectively with persons of diverse religious, cultural, and racial backgrounds.
• Skill and proficiency in applying advanced concepts, principles and professional techniques in the field of chaplaincy.
• Ability to listen, understand, and minister to the specific spiritual needs of persons in crisis.

Physical Demands
