Job summary

Valero Energy is hiring a Shipping & Receiving Operator at our ethanol plant in Hartley, IA. This position unloads raw materials and loads ethanol and distiller’s grains, while moving trucks and railcars on site.

The job follows 12-hour rotating day shifts and emphasizes safety and accuracy in operations. You will operate and maintain corn receiving, storage systems, and sampling processes, coordinating with rail services to ensure timely deliveries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Able and willing to work on-site and in-person required.

Responsibilities

• Unload corn from trucks and railcars.
• Load ethanol into trucks and railcars.
• Load distiller’s grains into trucks, railcars, and containers.
• Take samples of corn, ethanol, and distiller’s grains for testing.
• Operate plant scale house; enter data into scale house software; issue paperwork to drivers.
• Operate meters and bulk weighers to facilitate product loading.
• Move railcars using locomotives or rail movers.
• Perform routine housekeeping to maintain a clean work environment.
• Communicate regularly with local rail service to facilitate rail movement.
