Qualifications

  • 2–4 year technical diploma or engineering program.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair electronic, electrical, and computer-based systems on cementing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation such as high-pressure transducers, flow meters, densitometers, and sensors.
  • Perform PLC diagnostics and calibration work.
  • Inspect repaired equipment for manufacturer-spec compliance.

Position Summary

ETech III is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of electronic, electrical, and electromechanical components on cementing services equipment. This role supports both field operations and maintenance teams, ensuring equipment reliability, compliance with safety standards, and optimal electronic performance.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic, electrical, and computer-based systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation including high-pressure transducers, flow meters (magnetic, turbine, Coriolis), densitometers, and sensors (level, speed, proximity).
  • Conduct PLC diagnostics and adjustments, including offset corrections and K-factor calibration.
  • Inspect and test repaired equipment to ensure functionality meets manufacturer specifications.
Calibration & Testing
  • Set up, operate, and calibrate electronic systems and instrumentation.
  • Use diagnostic tools to test solid-state circuitry and repair or replace defective components.
  • Ensure compliance with internal maintenance programs and inspection schedules.
Documentation & Inventory
  • Complete work orders, inspection forms, and maintenance records accurately and timely.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of electronic parts inventory in the shop and field service kits.
Training & Team Support
  • Mentor junior technicians and provide on-the-job training on equipment diagnostics and repairs.
  • Train equipment operators on the use of electronic and data acquisition systems.
  • Support new product development and testing efforts alongside engineering teams.
Operational & Field Support
  • Assist operations during field jobs, especially in high-profile projects.
  • Travel to various locations as required to support operational needs.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all HSE policies and procedures, including Stop Work Authority.
  • Attend team and safety meetings regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and organizational goals.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • 2–4 year technical diploma, engineering degree, or formal military technical training.
  • 2+ years hands-on experience in electronic and instrumentation maintenance in an industrial or oilfield setting.
  • Experience with PLCs, sensors, instrumentation calibration, and electromechanical systems.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Proficient with testing/calibration equipment, hand and power tools.
  • Strong soldering and troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings, datasheets, and work instructions.
  • Able to work rotational schedules.
Critical Tasks / Performance Goals
  • Maintain compliance with scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Demonstrate accuracy in diagnostics and repairs with minimal rework.
  • Provide timely support and communication to operations and electronics leadership.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and ongoing training initiatives.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Regular exposure to moving machinery, outdoor weather conditions, diesel fumes, chemicals, dust, and moderate to loud noise levels, depending on work location.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, lower, carry, and move materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and working at ground level for extended periods.
  • Must be able to climb and descend ladders, steps, platforms, and equipment while maintaining balance and stability.
  • Requires sufficient manual dexterity and fine motor coordination to operate tools, manipulate small parts, assemble and disassemble components, and perform maintenance or operational tasks.
  • Requires the physical stamina to perform repetitive physical activities throughout the workday while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and other required safety equipment, as applicable.
  • Requires visual acuity to inspect equipment, read gauges, identify defects, and safely perform assigned job duties.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and other personnel in shop, office, and field environments, as applicable.
