Qualifications

• Requires teamwork among staff and parents.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with transfers.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities, autism, emotional and behavior challenges.
• Willingness to work with behaviorally challenging students.
• Effective communication and collaboration with a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in reinforcing skills with targeted strategies.
• Support intercultural competence and inclusion for diverse students.
• Understand students' needs, interests and abilities.
• Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work under teachers' directions.
• Assist with large-group activities, reading aloud, and field trips.
• Supervise and assist with wash-up/toilet routines, including transfers.
• Assist and supervise students to/from bus and within the building.
• Apply behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher.
• Complete clerical tasks related to assigned students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
