Job summary

B&B Concrete in Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to pursue and plan water and wastewater infrastructure projects, develop accurate, competitive estimates, and hand off to operations from bid through project kickoff. This role requires understanding self-performed work, evaluating scope, constructability, risk, and cost—not just takeoffs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Experience estimating water/wastewater construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed concrete and heavy civil work.
• Strong understanding of means, methods, sequencing, and productivity.
• Ability to read plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Experience with estimating software (HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, process piping, and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and price self-performed labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
• Evaluate project phasing, sequencing, logistics, constructability, and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, value-engineering ideas, and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project-team handoffs.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout following award.
• Partner with operations and project teams to help set projects up for successful execution.

• Strong quantity takeoff, cost analysis, and scope review skills.
• Experience with HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff preferred.
