Job summary

Cianbro is seeking an Estimator - Transmission to prepare proposals and estimates for transmission projects. This role involves reviewing RFQs, drawings and specifications to determine scope, materials, quantities and costs.

You will develop preliminary estimate plans, perform takeoffs, solicit vendor pricing and collaborate with a team to deliver complete, compliant bids and well-organized proposals. This position demands accuracy, scheduling awareness and a focus on margins.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• Minimum of three years of transmission estimating experience.
• Strong computer skills, familiarity with scheduling and estimating software (HCSS) and MS Office.
• Conceptual estimating skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop a preliminary estimate plan and assess the ability to meet RFP dates.
• Independently identify the scope of work and perform specificity, quantity, and cost takeoff from RFQ information.
• Review available plans and specifications to ensure the estimate is in compliance with client requirements.
• Perform conceptual estimates when detailed design information is not yet available.
• Work on multiple estimates concurrently.
• Solicit pricing from material vendors and subcontractors.
• Participate as a member of a team on larger estimates and contribute to the overall estimate.
• Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
• Develop project schedules to meet owner requirements and optimize resources.
• Ensure estimates address all potential safety risks and concerns.
• Develop innovative means and methods to increase competitiveness and margins.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and client requirements.
• Assist in proposal technical information and develop the basis of the proposal when required.
• Ensure proposals meet company and regional financial goals and contractual requirements.
• Maintain base bid documents and organize estimate information per company protocols.
• Assist the project team with technical guidance during bids and ongoing projects.
• Coordinate with the production team for a smooth transition to the project team.
• Assist in developing project budgets and monitor contract changes.
• Perform additional duties, as required.

This individual will review pertinent requests, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents to estimate materials specificity, quantity, and cost.

• Ensure that proposals meet company and regional financial goals and that contractual requirements of the project are acceptable.
• Maintain base bid documents and organize estimate information per company protocols.
• Assist the project team by providing technical guidance on the project delivery in terms of means and methods for successful bids, and continue this support for the duration of the project on smaller jobs.
• Coordinate with the production team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team.
• Assist in the development of project budgets and monitoring contract changes on successful proposals.
• Perform additional duties, as required.
