Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an estimator to produce accurate quantity take-offs, pricing, and budgeting for projects. You will coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, develop basic models, and support conceptual estimating under senior staff guidance.

Travel up to 10% may be required. Strong reading of drawings, cost control, and PC-based estimating tools are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 5 years related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally.
• Ability to read and comprehend drawings and specs for estimates.
• Experience coordinating pricing with vendors and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate quantity take-offs by reviewing plans, specs, and instructions.
• Enter take-offs and material unit pricing for estimates.
• Apply work breakdown structure (WBS) to estimates.
• Coordinate material pricing from vendors for pricing of basic elements.
• Contact subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Contribute to preparation of key estimating deliverables.
• Support conceptual estimating with basic model development for senior review.
• Develop budgets and purchasing plans with minimal oversight.
• Coordinate document flow during estimate preparation.
• Provide administrative logging of estimates.
• Perform additional duties as required.
