Job summary

Eversource in Massachusetts is seeking a qualified professional to develop standard design gas projects, estimate costs, and prepare work orders for capital projects within the Gas Organization. You will design service replacements, review contract documents, and coordinate with field teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's in construction management or engineering, 3+ years of related experience, and proficiency with MS Office, Primavera P6, PowerBI, GIS, and work management systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in construction/engineering.
• 3+ years of directly related experience in estimating or design for gas/utilities.
• Ability to read contracts, drawings and specifications.
• Experience with capital project estimates and work orders.

Responsibilities

• Develop standard design gas projects for 12” diameter or smaller pipelines.
• Estimate costs of materials, labor, contractor services and equipment.
• Prepare project documents and work orders in the Maximo system.
• Perform cost variance analysis and support field changes as needed.
• Travel to field sites and participate in emergency restoration when required.

Applicants requiring visa sponsorship to start employment with Eversource will not be considered.Responsible for the development of standard design gas projects including pipe of 12” diameter or less, operating at 99 psig. or less. These designs may include but are not limited to: main and service replacement projects, effected cast iron mains and encroachments, new business gas projects, new gas services, and standard commercial/industrial meter sets. Responsible for developing estimates and work orders for capital projects within the Gas Organization.Essential Functions:Identifies requirements and design specifications for new and existing gas facilities.Estimates costs of materials, labor, contractor services and equipment for underground utility construction projects.Orders materials, when required, for assigned projects.Prepares project documents, and related work orders in the Maximo work management system.Designs gas service replacements for all projects.Initiates project financial approval for assigned projects.Performs analysis of estimated vs. actual costs and units for completed projectsResponsible for the timely redesigns of existing work packages to support field changes when applicable.Evaluates and documents historical cost data for the development of future estimates.Prepares and reviews final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completenessPrepares work order summary sheets for internal construction and meter services departments.Must be capable of interpreting contract language and contract units used to produce accurate estimates.May performs site visits on a limited basis to inspect and document existing field conditions.Qualifications:Technical Knowledge/Skill:Knowledge of gas distribution operations or underground utility construction including engineering, construction and maintenance practices, as well as Federal, State, and company codes and regulations.Knowledge of estimating best practices including basic calculations based on project scope.Strong Computer skills MS Office (strong knowledge of Excel), Primavera P6, PowerBI, GIS, work management system (preferred).Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies.Ability to read and understand contract documents, drawings and specifications.Ability to manage multiple projects.Knowledge of Work Management and budget systems.Knowledge of \"unit based\" estimating is preferred.Education:Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, engineering or related discipline OR equivalent experience is required.Experience:Three (3) or more years of directly related experience.Licenses & Certifications:ASPE, ICEAA, or AACE estimator certification preferred.Valid Motor Vehicle Operator License is required.Working Conditions:This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position.
