Job summary

MATRIX is seeking an experienced Senior Nuclear Estimator to develop, maintain, and advance cost estimates for capital projects within an operating commercial nuclear fleet. The successful candidate will use WinEst and a standardized estimating template to produce consistent, defensible estimates throughout the project lifecycle.

This position will work closely with project managers, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, operations, and other stakeholders to define project

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in power plant operations or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years Estimator experience or equivalent.
  • 6 years nuclear experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Manager/Team to advance projects to the next estimate level
  • Perform estimate analysis to track evolution and accuracy of project costs
  • Work with cost analyst to build initial forecast in PMM once Class 5 estimate is complete
  • Work with scheduler to build initial schedule in P6 once Class 5 estimate is complete
  • Provide development basis of estimate including assumptions and estimate uncertainty
  • Train Estimators on best practices and WinEst
  • Reviews drawings and technical documents
  • Review schedules and perform material take-offs in order to develop a cost estimate to complete project work
  • Perform primarily office and non-manual work
  • Perform work related to the management or general business operations of MATRIX or its customers/clients, while exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to MATRIX and its customers/clients
  • Interface with managers or head of a unit/department requiring the integration of multiple functional organizations
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines: promote health and safety awareness consciousness, and implements all MATRIX health and safety procedures
  • Use “lessons learned” to improve quality of MATRIX’s future projects; make recommendations to MATRIX as to the implementations of future policies and procedures

Job description

DURATION: 6 months with the possibility of an extension
WORK SCHEDULE: 4/10s

MATRIX is seeking an experienced Senior Nuclear Estimator to develop, maintain, and advance cost estimates for capital projects within an operating commercial nuclear fleet. The successful candidate will use WinEst and a standardized estimating template to produce consistent, defensible estimates throughout the project lifecycle.

This position will work closely with project managers, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, operations, and other stakeholders to define project scope, establish estimating assumptions, quantify risk, and advance projects through successive estimate maturity levels. The Senior Nuclear Estimator will also help manage the existing estimate backlog and improve estimating consistency across the fleet.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 15+ years of experience in power plant operations or equivalent military experience
  • Minimum of 10 years Estimator experience or equivalent
  • 6 years nuclear experience is required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in WinEst and P6
  • Ability to travel between multiple client sites
  • The employee is self-motivated and has a willingness to learn.
  • Has extensive knowledge of nuclear applications.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Able to handle high paced work environment.
  • The ability to communicate well with customers and other MATRIX and customer/client employees.
  • Must be dependable.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $4,108 – $4,306 per week.
