Job summary

Tutor Perini is seeking an Estimator - Quantities Takeoff for our New Rochelle, NY office. You will conduct takeoffs, review plans, and prepare bid documents for heavy civil projects.

The role requires a BS in Engineering or Construction Management, 5+ years in heavy civil construction (3 in Estimating), and proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid, Blue Beam, Excel, Primavera P6, and SmartBid. Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Construction Management or similar from an accredited institution is preferred.
• Minimum experience of 5 years in heavy civil construction working with a General Contractor to include 3 years in Estimating.
• Fluent with software: HCSS Heavy Bid, Blue Beam, Excel, Primavera P6, SmartBid.

Responsibilities

• Review contract plans, specs and documents for bid items.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for bid items.
• Identify unusual items and log RFIs/RFCs.
• Solicit quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare bid schedule and write-ups for SOQ/RFP.
• Identify D/M/WBE requirements and prepare GFE using SmartBid.

DESCRIPTION

As an Estimator-Quantities Takeoff at Tutor Perini, reporting to the VP Estimating/Lead Estimator, you will have the opportunity to:

• Conduct a thorough review of the contract plans, specifications and other documents for the bid items assigned.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for the bid items assigned.
• Know general requirements and special conditions.
• Be aware of the proposal requirements and discuss with Lead Estimator.
• Identify unusual items, if any.
• File and update bid documents.
• Submit and log RFIs and RFCs.
• Solicit quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare HCSS comparison sheets.
• Assist in preparing the bid schedule.
• Identify D/M/WBE requirements, prepare GFE using SmartBid.
• Develop clear write-ups and documentation required for SOQ / RFP type proposals.
• Assist in the preparation of documents for bid and proposal submission.
• For Joint Venture bids, compare and reconcile quantities.
• Able to communicate and work well with others (team player).
• Able to take direction well and not afraid to ask questions or for assistance.

REQUIREMENTS
