Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our construction estimating team. You will review plans, perform quantity take-offs, price materials, prepare budgets, and coordinate with vendors to develop pricing for projects of varying complexity.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and at least five years of related experience, with travel up to 10% and strong communication and computer skills. This is a full-time position based in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

Proven experience in producing quantity take-offs and pricing for estimates.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications and identify missing elements.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to deadlines.

Responsibilities

Produces accurate quantity and material take-offs by reviewing plans, specs, and instructions for estimate preparation.
Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricings as applicable to project.
Develops budgets and purchasing plans with minimal oversight.
Coordinates estimate material pricing from vendors and other sources.
Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
Supports conceptual estimating efforts within the department.
