Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator to produce accurate quantity and material take-offs by reviewing plans and specifications for estimate preparation. You will enter quantities, pricing, and apply WBS while coordinating with vendors for pricing and developing project budgets.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work with minimal supervision on multiple tasks and deadlines.

Qualifications

Possesses working knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.

Responsibilities

Produce accurate quantity and material take-offs by reviewing plans, specs, and instructions for estimate preparation.
Enter quantity take-offs and material unit pricing for the project.
Apply appropriate work breakdown structure (WBS).
Coordinate estimate material pricing from vendors and other sources and develop pricing for basic project elements.
Contact subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
Contribute to the preparation of key estimating deliverables.
Support conceptual estimating efforts within the department, including development of basic models for review by senior personnel.
Develop budgets and purchasing plans with minimal oversight from senior estimation staff.
Coordinate flow of documents during estimate preparation.
Provide administrative logging of estimates.
Perform additional duties as required.
