As we continue to grow in the Charleston market, we're seeking a skilled Estimator & Purchaser to join our team and support our continued success in the region.

Position Summary:

The Estimator & Purchaser will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing the procurement of materials and subcontractor services, and contributing to detailed specification writing for residential construction projects. This dual-role position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of local building practices and vendor networks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze architectural plans, specifications, and scope of work to develop detailed cost estimates.
• Participate in the development and coordination of construction specifications in collaboration with design and construction teams.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and maintain budgets, cost breakdowns, and value engineering options.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors and subcontractors.
• Issue purchase orders and track material deliveries to ensure timely jobsite availability.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and field teams to align estimates and specs with project goals.
• Monitor actual costs against estimates and adjust future projections accordingly.
• Maintain strong relationships with local suppliers and trade partners.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in related field
• 5+ years' experience in a residential or commercial estimating
• Experience in architecture or construction project management preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret construction drawings.
• Strong understanding of residential building code and ability to write detailed construction specifications.
• Meticulous and precise in approach; quality-conscious and thorough.
• Ability to work tight deadlines at a fast pace while still being detail oriented.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficiency with MS Excel
• Must be willing to be able to work independently as well as a part of a larger team.

Preferred:

• Experience with high-end custom home construction.
• Familiarity with design-build process is a plus.
• Familiar with the Charleston Market.
