Job summary

Frederick Derr & Company, Inc. in Sarasota, FL seeks an experienced Estimator/Project Manager to lead civil construction bids and manage projects from takeoff to closeout. You will review drawings, perform accurate takeoffs, visit sites, and coordinate with design professionals to ensure timely submissions.

Ideal candidates have 4–5+ years in civil estimating and management involving earthwork, pipe, concrete and road work. Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob or AGTEK is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• 4 to 5+ years' experience in civil construction estimating and management involving earthwork, pipe, concrete and road work
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob and AGTEK preferred

Responsibilities

• Review civil construction drawings and perform accurate takeoffs for civil quantities
• Site visits to determine existing conditions and proposed scope of work
• Submit RFIs and clarify conditions to design professionals in a timely manner
• Provide value engineering options to optimize contract awards
• Prepare and solicit bid requests for subcontractors
• Review quotes for scope compliance
• Establish and maintain owner relationships
• Prepare and execute contracts, change orders and billings
• Develop and maintain material supplier and subcontractor relationships
• Analyze cost data to generate monthly WIP projections
• Negotiate and estimate project changes and adjust contracts
• Attend pre-construction meetings to gather data
• Support project phasing and resource scheduling

Job description

Frederick Derr & Company, Inc. , an employee-owned , well-established Sarasota, FL based contractor specializing in site construction including excavation, utility, storm, concrete and roadway installation is looking for an experienced full-time Estimator/Project Manager.

Qualified candidates should possess 4 to 5+ prior years' experience in estimating and managing civil construction projects ranging from $200K - $20M.

Responsibilities included, but not limited to:

• Construction document review, perform accurate takeoffs for civil construction related quantities
• Perform site visits to determine existing conditions and proposed scope of work
• Submit requests for information to clarify existing conditions and proposed improvement, submission to responsible design professional in a timely manner
• Provide value engineering options to optimize successful contract award opportunities
• Prepare and solicit bid requests for subcontractors
• Review quotes for scope compliance
• Establish, develop and maintain owner relationships
• Prepare and execute all contracts, change orders and billings
• Develop and maintain material supplier and subcontractor relationships
• Analyze and evaluate all cost data in order to generate monthly work in progress project projections
• Negotiate and estimate all project changes and adjust contracts accordingly
• Attend pre-construction meetings to gather all pertinent data
• Offer input and support for project phasing and resource scheduling
• Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field is preferred
• 4 to 5+ years’ experience in civil construction estimating and management involving earthwork, pipe, concrete and road work
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob and AGTEK is preferred

Salary for this role will be based on candidate’s experience. All projects are located in Sarasota and adjacent counties, and our office is located in Sarasota, FL.
