Job summary

MPI is seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to join our Western Pennsylvania team. You will prepare detailed estimates for ground-up and renovation projects, review drawings and specs, and develop cost breakdowns and bid packages to support preconstruction efforts.

You will perform quantity takeoffs, analyze subcontractor proposals, identify risks, and collaborate with project managers and leadership to deliver accurate bids on time.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, and building systems.
• Experience preparing estimates for ground-up and renovation projects.
• Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

Commercial Construction Estimator

Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design-development, and hard-bid estimates for commercial construction projects.

Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements.

Perform quantity takeoffs for all construction trades and disciplines.

Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.

Develop detailed cost breakdowns, budgets, scopes of work, and bid packages.

Identify project risks, pricing gaps, and value engineering opportunities.

Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and executive leadership during preconstruction planning.

Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs.

Maintain current knowledge of labor trends, material pricing, and market conditions.

Assist with change order pricing, budgeting, and project cost analysis when needed.

Support client presentations and participate in project interviews.

Ensure bids are completed accurately and submitted within established deadlines.

3+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction.

Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems.

Experience preparing estimates for ground-up and renovation commercial projects.

Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.

Knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing.

Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region.
