Job description

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Estimate projects in accordance with Primoris Policies and Procedures.
  • Leads capture team and is responsible for generating the project estimate under supervision of the BESS Estimating Manager.
    • Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
    • Prepares estimating takeoffs from the drawings and specifications working with Engineering and CAD designers.
    • Analyzes regional labor rates and per diems to be used in the estimate.
    • Obtains quotations from vendors and subcontractors for materials and performance of tasks not being self-performed.
    • Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Participates in external/client discussions.
  • Participates in schedule development.
  • Participates in contract execution planning with Client Account Manager, Estimating Manager, and Contracts Manager.
  • Participates in proposal generation and review under Estimating Manager supervision.
  • Travels to project sites to understand construction sequence, means and methods, site conditions and perform time-studies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prefer BS degree in a business or engineering disciplined program.
  • Preference given for experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, or Power Generation.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience, 3-4 years preferred in estimating industrial electrical construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of estimating fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications with MS office application proficiency.
  • Working knowledge of estimating software programs (B2W or WinEst preferred).
  • Demonstrated skills in written communications; ability to compose basic as well as complex technical documents, formal letters, invoices.
  • Demonstrated skills in oral communications; ability to make presentations to large, diverse groups.
  • Proven success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships while effectively navigating organizational barriers.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of project accounting practices and financial systems.
  • General understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing mechanisms.
  • Working knowledge of the techniques needed to lead and influence others in a matrix organization.
