Job summary

Harris is seeking an Estimator II to prepare contract proposal estimates across plumbing, piping, or sheet metal systems. You will analyze blueprints, develop takeoffs, review specs, and prepare cost estimates for small to medium projects.

The role includes cost monitoring, quotes from subcontractors, and mentoring team members. As part of Harris, you will contribute to a safety-centric culture and support other departments with estimates, across multiple regional locations nationwide.

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred in engineering or related technical field.
• 2+ years of estimating, engineering, or trade experience related to mechanical construction.
• 4+ years of Microsoft Office – Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of construction, building, mechanical systems and safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop proposal and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; compute time, costs, resources, or materials needed.
• Analyze blueprints and documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoffs of scope of work.
• Review proposal specs and drawings to determine scope and contents of estimate.
• Develop proposals for current or prospective customers.
• Develop and deliver accurate project cost estimates.
• Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services during bids.
• Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other documentation for the duration of the project.
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
• Review material and labor requirements to determine most cost-effective outcome.
• Obtain quotes from subcontractors and vendors adhering to scope and specs.
• Document account activities, generate reports, and maintain records.
