Job summary

IES, a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services, is seeking an Estimator II to support sales and projects by developing basic designs and estimates. You will coordinate with multiple teams to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of cost estimates, while following safety and quality standards.

The role requires strong Excel and communication skills, plus the ability to manage complex bid timelines and vendor interactions.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or bachelor's preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in customer interface (liaison between customer and company).
  • Industry Certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding/Knowledge of the Technology Industry.
  • Must meet company minimum driving standards.
  • Must be able to design, engineer, estimate, and develop written and graphic representations of proposed solutions using company software.

  • Provide accurate takeoffs and cost estimates per the company’s framework and technical support.
  • Ensure estimating work meets customer and company quality and safety standards.
  • Attend training and review sessions on technical requirements.
  • Meet bid schedules and deadlines within tight timeframes.
  • Attend and complete job turnover meetings to cover details and expectations.

Job description

Overview

The Estimator II supports the sales and projects staff in developing basic designs and engineering solutions for sales opportunities, keeps estimates accurate and up to date, and assists in day-to-day sales and project activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide complete project engineering, selection of applicable materials, and estimating labor. Write scope of work and develop cost estimates in response to bid specifications.
  • Serve as a point of contact for Lead Estimator, sales, and operations with multi-scope requests. Help ensure estimators working on the same opportunity meet requirements and track to complete on time.
  • Act as liaison between sales, project management, and operations when the project is handed over for installation. Monitor that the sales price and actual installation costs align.
  • Follow company guidelines on vendor and product selection. Work with vendors to obtain the best solution, most competitive price, and proper lead-time on materials.
  • Provide accurate takeoffs and cost estimates per the company’s recommended solutions framework and technical support personnel.
  • Ensure that all estimating work meets customer and company quality and safety standards.
  • Attend training and review sessions on technical requirements per the company’s guidelines.
  • Meet bid schedules and deadlines within a very strict timeframe.
  • Attend and complete job turnover meetings as required to cover all details and expectations of the project as estimated.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • HS Diploma or GED required. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one (3) year of experience in customer interface, such as liaison between the customer and the company.
  • Industry Certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding/Knowledge of the Technology Industry.
  • Must meet company minimum driving standards.
  • Must have the proven ability to design, engineer, estimate, and develop a written and graphic representation of the company’s proposed solutions using the company’s software resources.
