Job summary

Adolfson & Peterson Construction is hiring an Estimator I based in Bloomington (moving to Edina). The role focuses on detailed conceptual estimates from schematic documents and construction plans for projects generally under $50 million.

You’ll prepare bids, quantify take-offs, review plans, and help lead the buyout process. The position requires a construction-related degree or equivalent experience, strong cost- estimating skills, and proficiency with Excel and estimating software.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field with 4+ years of related experience, or an Associate degree with 5+ years of related experience.
Proficient in detailed estimate organization and take-offs, including conceptual/schematic estimating.
General understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in construction.
Familiarity with project schedules and durations for various facilities.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Excel, and estimating software.

Responsibilities

Prepare bids, conceptual cost models, and budgets; perform quantitative analyses of documents and program requirements.
Review plans and specs; assemble general conditions costs and bid backups.
Create bid spreadsheets; monitor pricing and take-offs for scopes of work.
Lead buyout processes; build subcontractor and supplier relationships.
Provide team leadership for bid closings and coordinate with design teams.
