DBI Construction Consultants is seeking a Construction Cost Estimator to analyze costs, timelines, and risks while visiting field sites to gather real-world data. You will prepare reports and contribute to accurate project estimates for diverse locations across the US.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, collaboration with teams, and proficiency in estimating tools. A bachelor’s degree and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or structural engineering or construction management.
• Internship in construction or risk management preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and technical reading skills.
• Advanced Excel; experience with Xactimate or scheduling software preferred.
• Willingness to travel ~30% and work in varied field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site visits to collect measurements, photos, and project details.
• Support the analysis of labor, materials, and timelines for project estimates.
• Help track costs and flag differences between projected and actual figures.
• Learn to prepare professional reports and data entries in estimating tools.
• Gain exposure to industry software like Xactimate, Bluebeam Revu, and project scheduling tools.

Location

We are seeking Estimators across a dozen office locations throughout the US including: Atlanta, Chicago (Inverness), Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Riverside (CA), and San Antonio. Please indicate your preferred location(s) when applying.

Salary $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 annually, a competitive healthcare benefits package, plus eligible for two annual billable bonuses and a team bonus

Your Role

As a Construction Cost Estimator, you will dive into field and office work — analyzing costs, timelines, and risks while visiting sites to gather real-world data. Your analysis and reports will bring practical knowledge to help our clients move forward.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with site visits to collect measurements, photos, and project details.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in civil / mechanical / structural engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Past construction or risk management internship experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication and technical reading skills.
• Advanced Excel skills; Xactimate/scheduling software experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel (~30%), meet the physical requirements, and work in varied field conditions.

Physical Activities And Requirements

In addition to the working conditions and associated physical activities and requirements above, the incumbent may be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, or feel, especially in the course of investigating and assessing property damage; these requirements may include the need to lift weights of up to 50 pounds, including a ladder, and climb ladders upwards of 30 feet.
