Job summary

F.L. Crane & Sons in Fulton, MS seeks an Estimator for Exterior Systems to meet with prospects, define project scope, and lead construction estimates and bid preparation.

You will read blueprints, coordinate with owners, engineers, architects, clients, and subcontractors, and maintain accurate cost data for future bids. Travel is required to support project pursuits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3+ years working in estimating or project management within construction.
• Proficient understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
• Experience estimating exterior cladding, facade, or building envelope systems (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Completes detailed estimates and prepares proposals in advance of bid dates.
• Read blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates.
• Collaborate with owners, engineers, architects, clients, contractors, and sales to prepare estimates and bids.
• Calculate and adjust estimates for costs like materials and labor.

Job Title: Estimator - Exterior Systems Position Type: Full Time

Department/Location: Position Status Exempt

Reports To: Division Manager Travel Required: Travel Required

Summary of Position

The Estimator is responsible for meeting with prospective clients, developing the proposed project scope, leading construction estimates, and compose construction estimates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Completes detailed estimates and prepares proposals in advance of bid due dates
• Participate in pre/post job reviews.
• Read blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates
• Collaborate withowners, engineers , architects , clients, contractors, and sales to prepare estimates and bids.
• Calculate, analyze, and adjust estimates as needed for factors affecting costs, such as production time, materials, and labor
• Work with sales teams to prepare estimates and bids for clients
• Maintain records of estimated and actual costs
• Prepare complete cost estimates for project bids and jobs
• Perform field take offs/evaluations for estimate preparation
• Solicitation of vendor and subcontractor bids for projects.
• Work with owners and designers to develop project scope and pricing
• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimates
• Maintain up to date accurate job costs for future projects.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to develop the most cost-effective scopes
• Works diligently and succeeds in contributing to develop and maintain a high level of communication, coordination, and cooperation throughout the Company.
• Ensures that all activities are conducted in a prudent and ethical manner.
• Manages enough jobs through the preconstruction process to meet the Company goals.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or equivalent work experience. ( preferred)
• Minimum of 3+ years working in an estimating or project management role within the construction industry. ( preferred)
• Proficient understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
• Experience estimating exterior cladding, facade, or building envelope systems (preferred).
